Wines

From an isolated, rocky mountaintop in southern France just north of Barcelona, Spain, you can find some of the oldest Carignan vines, many dating back over 130 years. Clos del Rey has plenty of experience cultivating these vines. The Clos del Rey estate has been owned and farmed by the Montagne family for generations. Together with his son, Julien, Jacques Montagué has been selecting the finest plots of Carignon in the region and crafting complex wines that tell the story of their Catalan roots, intertwined with the story of the terroir.

The l’Aragone is a lively, medium-bodied 100% Carignan wine aged 12 months in concrete. On the nose, hints of red and black fruit mingle with notes of liquorice. It’s a structured, rich wine, well-balanced with dark berry and baking spice notes on the palate, and refined tannins that give it a long, pleasant finish. All grapes for this wine are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted for quality; in fact, only 250 cases were produced. Usually blended, Clos del Rey’s l’Aragone is a superb expression of the varietal.

Gourmet Updates

Abbaye de Tamié is a French cheese made by the monks at the Trappist Abbey of Tamié since the 12th century. The abbey is located in the Savoie region of southeastern France. Monks use unpasteurized cow’s milk from eight local farms. This is a soft, washed-rind cheese with delicate flavors of fresh cream, salt, and hay, finishing with a hint of bitterness. It’s a creamy cheese with an even texture, aged in vaulted cellars of the abbey. The wheels are manually turned every other day, to maintain the crust, they are given a second brine bath and then returned to their shelves to mature. A great addition to a cheeseboard, try it with sliced baguette, apples, or pears and a drizzle of honey.

If you’re looking for something delightful to serve at your next party, try one of our custom charcuterie boards. We create hand-crafted, custom charcuterie and cheese boards for all occasions and any number of people. We also make gift bags or boxes for anyone on your list. Order by emailing Serenity using the link below, calling us at 513-561-6956, or stopping by the shop.
